UKCA are you ready?

UKCA are you ready?

"With its network of certification providers, EFSG is ready to support customers with UKCA marking"

Use of the new UK product mark UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) came into effect during 2021, however to allow businesses time to adjust, CE marked goods that meet the EU requirements, can continue to be placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland until 1st January 2023.

The UKCA mark will not be recognised outside of Great Britain and products will still need to display a CE mark to be sold in the EU. There is no official mutual recognition of marks between the regulators in the UK and EU.

From 1st January 2023, all fire detection and fire alarm products placed on the market in Great Britain are required to be UKCA marked. Products that are currently CE marked on the basis of an EU Notified Body assessment are, from 1st January 2023, required to be re-assessed by a UK Approved Body for UK market access.

EFSG members are able to support their customers with UKCA marking provided the product type is within the scope of the EFSG mutual recognition agreement. Customers that have undertaken an EU Notified Body assessment with an EFSG member and associated test laboratory can use the technical file (certificates and test reports) to obtain a UKCA certificate via BRE or DBI, both UK Approved Bodies and signatories to the EFSG mutual recognition agreement. For details about the process please contact your primary certification body.
