IMQ has been officially recognized as a member of EFSG (European Fire and Security Group), joining the European network that brings together leading independent certification bodies in the fields of fire protection, intrusion detection, and high-security equipment.
EFSG is unique in the European context: it is the only organization to facilitate the creation of Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) that allows manufacturers to obtain multiple certification marks through a single testing and evaluation process. Thanks to a shared technical foundation, harmonized interpretation of standards, and the active participation of member laboratories in inter-laboratory comparisons and regular audits, EFSG ensures the highest level of reliability, consistency, and market trust.
New Opportunities for Mutual Recognition of IMQ Test Reports
As an EFSG member, IMQ now participates in the group’s Mutual Recognition framework. This means that IMQ test reports—covering intrusion alarm control panels, power supplies, and wireless interconnections—are accepted by all EFSG member certification bodies that are signatory to the agreement. The IMQ laboratory successfully completed the necessary audits and round-robin testing required for participation, offering manufacturers a streamlined route to obtain multiple certification marks and expand their market presence with fewer duplicated tests.
A Strategic Milestone for IMQ and the Italian Certification System
With this recognition, IMQ becomes the only Italian body to join EFSG, alongside organizations such as AFNOR (France), BRE Global (UK), CNPP (France), VdS (Germany), SBSC (Sweden), and DBI (Denmark).
“Becoming a member of EFSG represents a strategic milestone for IMQ, It enables us to offer Italian manufacturers a more efficient pathway to obtain internationally recognized certifications, reducing time and costs, while also strengthening Italy’s role in the European certification landscape” commented IMQ.
Benefits for Manufacturers and the Market
IMQ’s membership in EFSG brings significant advantages to companies in the fire & security sector:
- Access to multiple European markets through a simplified process;
- Reduced testing duplication, lowering costs;
- Greater confidence from authorities, specifiers, insurers, and end users, who recognize the marks of EFSG members as symbols of high quality and full compliance with European standards.
IMQ will actively participate in EFSG’s Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs), contributing to the development of a shared culture of quality, safety, and innovation, with a focus on emerging challenges such as device digitalization and cybersecurity
